Yule log + Xmas parties, decs next time..

Hi everyone. I’ve had a much needed chillaxed day at home today after all the Christmas parties and rushing around. I’m enormously proud of how my Yule log turned out. I last made one about 20 years ago to a different recipe. This time I used a recipe from National Geographic Traveller Food magazine. IContinue reading “Yule log + Xmas parties, decs next time..”

Getting back to cooking and other waffle of the day..

Hi everyone. Hope you’re all doing well. I’ve just painted my toenails bright red and feel a bit high on the nail varnish aroma. The window is open, I think I’ll be OK! This blog was initially a food and cookery blog. I’ve veered off the path along the way but it was also alwaysContinue reading “Getting back to cooking and other waffle of the day..”

The Windsor Waffle goes to Bordeaux

Bonjour! David and I have just spent an enjoyable 5 nights in Bordeaux, France; our first flight and holiday abroad since before the pandemic started. We’ve had a good time and done far too much eating and drinking. The weather wasn’t as hot and sunny as we’d hoped for. It was 32 degrees C onContinue reading “The Windsor Waffle goes to Bordeaux”

Looking back on Covid 2021 to present

This is part 2 of my post looking back at the pandemic so far. So where was I? January 2021. This was a bleak month for me. My father almost died from an abdominal aortic aneurysm and had emergency surgery for the same. A week later partly due to stress and lack of sleep IContinue reading “Looking back on Covid 2021 to present”

Sunday’s blog.. the colour orange

Hi. These gorgeous vibrant berries caught my eye the other day walking around the block. I’m loving all the autumn oranges around in nature at the moment. It’s been a busy but fun weekend. We went to a new restaurant in Windsor last night. It’s called Plate at No.6 and I thought it was superb.Continue reading “Sunday’s blog.. the colour orange”

Flowers, trees and food (TWW staples)

An interesting choice of window box flowers, these tall lilies, don’t you think? They made me stop and smile on my lunchtime walk this week. Here are some other pretty flowers..firstly our beautiful blue hydrangeas out the front. They are growing FAST! Some pretty specimens around our local estate. I’m loving this rich, deep purple.Continue reading “Flowers, trees and food (TWW staples)”

Highlights of London: Part 2

So to continue on from last time, we enjoyed some bits of our stay in London but not the awful service and lack of adequate Covid measures in the hotel. There is a really big shortage of hospitality staff at the moment in the UK so lots of staff are new and untrained, some ofContinue reading “Highlights of London: Part 2”

Walk around Braywick etc

Hi everyone. It’s been a funny week. I’ve worked really hard and feel like I haven’t slept much and it’s catching up with me. And relax! 😊it’s the weekend. Today we went to Stubbings garden centre (near Maidenhead) for lunch. This was the first time we’ve been there since lockdown. It’s a nice café withContinue reading “Walk around Braywick etc”

The poppies are back

I love these orange poppies in our garden. I think they’re weeds, but we’re keeping them. The bees seem to like them too. So how are you all? We’re fine. Life seems to be getting back to a bit of our pre Covid days. We are both doubly vaccinated (me through my job), so asContinue reading “The poppies are back”

What’s for dinner?

I have to say I’ve been eating and drinking rather well recently, both outside at pubs and restaurants and at home. Maybe a bit too well 🤔I’ll share with you a few of the highlights. “What’s for lovely dinner?” my husband asks me every day around tea time. He usually is genuinely excited by theContinue reading “What’s for dinner?”
