It’s Birthday Season

Hi. In my family we have a lot of April birthdays. My Mum’s was yesterday, my niece is on Monday and then I’m next Saturday. I like sharing my birthday proximity with my close relatives. My sister does not enjoy it so much and has been known to say it is like another Christmas forContinue reading “It’s Birthday Season”

The freshness of Spring blossom

Hi. How are you all doing? I’m loving the Spring blossom at the moment. So gorgeous. I spotted some more of it today. Also a magnolia tree, on its way. Here are some other little Spring bits I haven’t shared with you yet. There are a few hyacinths out now. The pink one above isContinue reading “The freshness of Spring blossom”

My favourite daffodil, 36th February!

Hello folks. Let me start by explaining 36th February… well, actually, I have no explanation. David woke up on Friday morning and his bedside clock was like this…(excuse the blurry photo).. Friday 36th February?! How weird is that? My clock meanwhile was 10 days’ behind showing 26th February. Oh well, panic over, the clock hasContinue reading “My favourite daffodil, 36th February!”

Crocuses, snowdrops, daffodils

I am so in love with my crocuses. Aren’t they wonderful? The snowdrops are just perfect too, don’t you think? My daffodils are still not out yet, but there are a few around locally looking gloriously cheerful. This bunch will be good when they come out, looking promising.. I liked these daisies too. I findContinue reading “Crocuses, snowdrops, daffodils”

More pretty flowers, a couple of good trees and some walls!?!

Hello. There seem to be quite a lot of purple crocuses around at the moment. I am loving them all, with their cheery spring faces. These are my neighbours’ crocuses again, not mine. This is one of my favourite local trees, it’s one of a pair of hornbeams. I love their structural shape. And thisContinue reading “More pretty flowers, a couple of good trees and some walls!?!”

So I am pleased to report that I have acute biophilia… connection with nature… which is much more pleasant than it sounds.Continue reading “Biophilia”

Hi. This is going to be a short blog as I need a rest. It’s been one of those days. I thought you might like to see my new sunflower calendar. I bought this from Amazon. It’s got sunflowers on every page, because you can never have too many sunflowers, right? Some of you willContinue reading “New sunflower calendar”

Glorious Cliveden (part 2)

Good evening. As the beautiful light streams through these golden gates at Cliveden, I want to finish showing you the photos from our great afternoon out there on Thursday. I’ve got to make this a really good post tonight, as myself and The Waffle will be undergoing a little pause this week, so there willContinue reading “Glorious Cliveden (part 2)”

It’s not over yet

The virus. The summer. My sunflowers 🌻. None of these are over yet. Look at this amazing new sunflower about to burst open with vibrancy and life. Let’s focus on that and not all the rest of the depressing stuff. I do hope you’re in the mood for pretty flowers, as there are a lotContinue reading “It’s not over yet”

Beginning to feel autumnal

As this busy bee makes himself busy on the sunflower in my garden, something has shifted, and I’m not sure I like it. The weather is no longer summer sandal weather. No longer can we enjoy sitting dining al fresco of an evening. There is a shift in the air, and with this change comes,Continue reading “Beginning to feel autumnal”
