Fit February – update

Hi there. How’s it going?

Just checking in as I’m 2 weeks into my efforts to do more activity in February and hopefully get a bit fitter. I set myself a do-able challenge of at least 15 minutes of exercise EVERY day and a total of at least 10 different activities for the month. So far so good.

These are my totals for the last 2 weeks. I’ve been active for at least 20 minutes each day and already attempted 10 different activities so together with my pre-booked table tennis session on Wednesday this week I will definitely exceed my 10 activity target. So far I have enjoyed the variety and some things more than others. I do not have a Fit Bit so any walking inside the house and at work is not counted.

Totals for the past 2 weeks:

8.5 hours walking

1 hour yoga

1 hour pilates

51 mins cycling

30 mins dancing to a live band

25 minutes swimming

15 mins Joe Wicks workout

5 mins hula hoop

3 mins gym in the park (mucking about with a friend!)

20 star jumps

Total costs so far: £10. Pilates class, £7.35 swim (what a rip off, this was only £4.65 pre Covid and the pool is now run down and with dirty changing rooms), £6.66 bought a hula hoop = £24.01 total for 2 weeks. All the other activities were free/at home/using You Tube.

My favourite by far is walking, I love to walk, always have done, always will. A lot of this walking was in The Gower at the weekend and on the beach which made it even more enjoyable.

My least favourite is my new hula hoop. It’s not as fun as I remember it from childhood. The weighted hoop was quite difficult to put together and I feel like it may not be very good for me, ? may bruise some internal organs??! (or is that me doing it wrong or being melodramatic?!).

I have to admit I am not feeling particularly energised by the extra activity. I feel like I’m dragging myself through February to a certain extent, like January although I am so grateful for where I’m at now compared to year ago when I’d fallen down the stairs, sprained my ankle and could only hobble around for ages. I do not wish to wish my life away but I am looking forward to Spring.

I will carry on the activity challenge for the rest of the month. I’m also going to try to drink a little less alcohol and eat more healthily/a bit less. My work trousers are a bit tight! It would be nice if this resolved a little.

How are you getting on through the winter months? Are you finding some joy? Getting fit? By the way, HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! ❤️. I am a lucky girl as these lovely flowers were waiting for me from David on my return from work tonight. Book reading now ready for book club tomorrow night. Bye for now folks 😊 thanks for reading XX.
