Hi. Some of you will remember I gifted myself this ASOS Beauty Advent Calendar. I thoroughly enjoyed this one, my second time buying myself a beauty advent calendar. It’s becoming a tradition.
The boxes were cute. I’ve now passed them on to my niece Hazel so that she can reuse them. She did joke that she would sell it back to me!? That’s Hazel, little Miss Entrepreneur. I’m waiting for her to make a jewellery advent calendar with her own handmade jewellery, that would be fab.
It also came with a black tote bag that I like and I’ve used a few times and a little black and cream scarf that I like the idea of but not worn yet.
So I wanted to share with you my favourite products from this so far. Of course I’ve opened all the boxes, but I haven’t started using all the products yet. I also had a job and a life etc on each day I opened the boxes in the run up to Christmas 2021!
I got some full size and some sample size products. This little sample size 7 ml pot of Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream was one of my favourites and the pot is now all used up/empty.
I would have bought this again except for the ridiculous “I’m not paying that!” price. A little 50 ml pot sets you back £75. no less. £75.?! You must be joking. Even more ridiculous is that you can pay £5. extra to get your little pot engraved with a message. What?! What a ridiculous waste of time and money. It’s not like a watch or something you’ll keep forever.
I wouldn’t say it was magic (and no one has commented on my wonderfully improved skin!) but it is a really nice moisturiser with a pleasant, gentle scent and just the right amount of thickness, not too light and not too heavy or greasy. If anyone knows of anything similar to this but A LOT cheaper, please keep me posted.
The second product I really liked was a hair conditioner called Repair 3 in 1 conditioner from We are Paradoxx. I’d not heard of this brand before.
I have been using this as a leave in conditioner/detangler. My hair is fine but there’s a lot of it. Hairdressers sometimes comment it takes them a long time to dry. I really like the silky feel of this without making my hair greasy. I use this mainly on the ends of my hair and it’s really lovely, the comb slides effortlessly through it. You only need to use a tiny bit of it to take effect so this 30 ml tube is lasting me ages. David did even comment that my hair was looking glossy the other day, so that’s amazing. I think I would buy this one again, although it is a bit more expensive than I’d usually spend on conditioner or detangler spray. I am impressed that most of the packaging is plastic free and all of it is recyclable. Another win. I found it on Lookfantastic.com at £18. for 250 ml. Might add that to my birthday list.
The final product that I’m enjoying from the advent calendar is this deep sleep body cocoon lotion from this works. I got a full size tube of this. Sadly in dreaded plastic. It has a lavender fragrance and is supposed to aid sleep. It’s quite a strong smell, powerful but agreeable and relaxing. The texture is smooth and good. I’ve been using it on my feet at bedtime instead of the usual Aveeno. Again this may be a little out of my price range at £25. for 100 ml, but I think it would make a lovely gift for someone who was a bit stressed or not sleeping. I would maybe buy it if it was on special offer. I’d prefer them to sell it in non plastic packaging.
I hope you enjoyed my first beauty blog?! I don’t spend much on make up or beauty products. As I’m buying fewer clothes these days it is a nice way to have a little treat that’s not going to end up cluttering up my house/life/mind too much.
Off to make myself look beautiful now…! Au revoir my gorgeous blog people 😊Xx.
